Product Description
Gerber has been making survival knives for the US Military since 1968. The Strong-arm Fixed Blade carries on our legacy of tough-as-hell fixed blade knives for combat and survival applications. With a sheath that can be mounted in a variety of ways, this knife offers reliable use whether on-duty or off. Featuring a serrated edge, full tang 420HC blade with black ceramic coating, the Strong-arm was designed around the fundamentals of military survival training. Obtain a solid grip on the knife in all conditions with its diamond-texture rubberized handle. The striking pommel positioned at the base of the handle functions to break through hard surfaces for effective rescue operations, and ceramic coating on the blade offers subtle use through low visual profile, as well as preventing corrosion for long life of the blade. The Strong Arm's modular sheath system is as important as the knife itself. With the sheath's snap-together components, the operator can mount the knife vertically on MOLLE, horizontally on a standard 1.75" tactical belt, or in a traditional drop-leg belt mount fashion. The Strong-arm Fixed Blade is designed and built in Portland, Oregon.

I have two of these and enjoy using them. Good value and a knife you can rely on!
It comes presharpened but you'll have to fine tune the blade edge.
The 2 things I was a little disappointed with is the sheath that comes with it plus the plastic belt attachment accessories are VERY cheap. Like cheap plastic/nylon material. I would not have the blade on the outside of my body with this holster setup. Gerber should have just made the price about $30 more for higher quality materials. If you drop you knife and lose it, you could end up wasting your money or worse, needing it in a survivor situation.
2nd negative about the sheath is they did not include a sharpening stone holder. My cheap back up knife has a way better sheeth and came with a sharpening stone and holder on the sheath.
Overall, buy this knife! It's worth the price.
Don't trust the cheap material made sheath.
I bought this knife along with the SOG Seal Pup Elite. This one got returned, even though it fit my hand "better". It came down to a single feature on the blade. The SOG has additional saw teeth on the top. That would have been handy for some of the brush I've had to cut through.
I hated to send this knife back, but I didn't want to carry two.

First, the good points.
This is an excellent survival or camp knife. It's just the right size - large enough for real work but not too large you feel silly. The blade is sharp and the point is good. Some have mixed feelings about the serration, but I personally prefer it for cutting rope and the like; it works fine for this purpose. The spine of the blade is more than thick enough that I never felt any hesitation about batonning with this knife (using it like a wedge to cut wood - you hit the spine with another piece of wood to force it into the log). It's held up chopping its way through a couple dozen large chunks of wood with no complaints at all, though some of the black on the blade is wearing off along the taper of the blade. The grip is comfortable and appropriately textured, even if your hands are wet or sweaty; the shape of the grip in particular holds your hand lengthwise and feels more comfortable and natural than just an oval grip.
The only downsides I have are related to the sheath. The included sheath has a variety of attachment options, so it's clear someone tried, but I find them all awkward to use. Slinging it across your belt horizontally is a bad idea because the handle sticks out and gets caught and the belt loop connectors are oddly sized. Slinging it vertically on your belt is equally awkward. I mostly just stuck it in my pocket (in the sheath), which worked fine. In addition to these, the retention mechanism involves a piece of plastic that gets caught on the groove you can see in the knife's guard at the base of the blade. This works fine, but I do feel like in time, with multiple removals, this mechanism will weaken and the knife will no longer be retained in the sheath. In fact, after perhaps 50-100 cycles, I think I can already feel this happening.
That being said, it's a great knife and my current daily driver. Be aware of the price: on amazon, the four variations (black serrated, black smooth, brown serrated, brown smooth) vary between $70 and $110 CAD depending on the supplier and what's in stock. Sometimes if you wait a bit, the variation you want will be in stock and you can knock twenty or thirty bucks off the price. On the other hand I've only ever seen it in stores around $90-$100, so $70 or $75 may not matter much.
